I also occasionally use the live view to take single air photos for more artistic shots, and occasionally use it in movie mode, and both functions work fine.

The jpg previews stream wirelessly to the iPad and I can download the full jpg occasionally to check the histogram. I use it with a d800, taking both full resolution raw and a low resolution jpg.
